Announcing the winners!
The winning songs were selected through two processes: a popular
vote by the general public and a critical
judging by Omaha area art and music professionals.
The general public was invited to vote on the
songs while viewing the Art on the Edge exhibition
at Joslyn from September
16 - October 8. Voters were asked to choose their three favorite
songs from among the 23 entries.
Practitioners, critics, educators, and other leaders in
the field of visual arts or music served as the Art for Your Ears judges.
Each of the 14 judges came to Joslyn and listened to a selection of
about six songs while
viewing
works
in the Art on the Edge exhibition.
Judges assigned points based on set criteria.
Every entry was
critiqued by a minimum of four judges.
We encourage you to transfer these songs to an iPod or other mp3
player and bring it to Joslyn Art Museum so you can listen to the
winning songs while viewing the artworks that inspired them. Please
note dates of the exhibition. Don't have an mp3 player? You
can borrow one of ours for free.
The Joslyn artwork(s) that inspired each
song is listed on the right.
